Juliana Schlegel

B.A. (HONS.) M.Cl.Sc., AuD., Reg. CASLPO - Doctor of Audiology

Juliana Schlegel received a Bachelor of Arts with honours majoring in Psychology and Linguistics in 1993 from Brock University in St. Catharines. She earned a Master of Clinical Science from the University of Western Ontario in 1997. Her student research comparing linear and compression hearing instruments was published in The Ear and Hearing Journal in 1999. Juliana completed her Doctorate in Audiology in 2004 from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.

Juliana is interested in research in all areas of audiology with a keen interest in vestibular and balance disorders. She studied under Dr. Pawel Jastreboff to receive her Tinnitus Retraining Therapy certification and under Dr. Richard Gans for advanced training in vestibular and balance disorders at the American Institute of Balance, in Florida.

Rachel Dingle

Ph.D., M.Cl.Sc., Reg CASLPO - Audiologist

Rachel Dingle received her honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2005 and continued on to complete a Masters (2008) and a Doctorate (2012) at Dalhousie University. Her doctoral thesis used behavioural psychophysical methods to explore the neural mechanisms underlying sound localization in humans and was supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. Rachel completed her Masters in Clinical Sciences (Audiology) at Western University in 2015.

Rachel studied under Dr. Pawel Jastreboff to receive her Tinnitus Retraining Therapy certification in 2016, and under Dr. Richard Gans for advanced training in vestibular and balance disorders and the American Institute of Balance in 2017. In 2020, she joined our Infant Hearing Program team. Rachel works primarily out of our Elmira location.

Alison Burton

B.A., M.Cl.Sc, Aud (C), Reg CASLPO - Audiologist

Alison Burton earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick in 2006 and a Master of Clinical Science from the University of Western Ontario in 2009. She joined the Ear and Hearing Clinic team in July 2009 and works out of our Kitchener location. Alison has been the Ear & Hearing Clinic’s lead Infant Hearing Program (IHP) audiologist since 2011. She completed advanced training in vestibular and balance disorders at the American Institute of Balance under Dr. Richard Gans in 2012 and 2017.

Stefan Wasowicz

B.Eng., M.Cl.Sc., Reg. CASLPO - Audiologist

Stefan Wasowicz received a Bachelor of Engineering with honours from the University of Guelph in 2011, majoring in Environmental Engineering. He then became licensed as a Professional Acoustical Engineer in 2016. Stefan completed a Master of Clinical Science Degree from Western University in 2019.As an accomplished violinist, and avid birder, Stefan is keenly interested in the human experience of sound. Primarily working out of our Elmira clinic location, Stefan is committed to a career built on exceptional service and state-of-the-art clinical practice.

Ha-Yoon Jae

M.Cl.Sc., Reg. CASLPO - Audiologist

Ha-Yoon Jae is an audiologist with a diverse background commited to continuous learning. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology (Honors) and Master of Clinical Science (Audiology) from Western University. With prior experience as an army Sergeant Medic, he understands the importance of Audiology Care and Rehabilitation.

Wearing multiple hats, Ha-Yoon is a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator who brings expertise and a deep passion for assisting others. He is also an enthusiastic Kendo (Japanese martial art that emphasizes discipline, precision, and respect in swordsmanship) practitioner and instructor at Waterloo University.

Ha-Yoon holds certifications in treating Tinnitus and Hyperacusis, including advanced techniques like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. He has trained with Dr. Hashir Aazh in Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Rehabilitation Therapy. He has trained in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) under Dr. Pawel Jastreboff. Additionally, he completed an intensive Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. Ha-Yoon is currently pursuing a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from A.T. Still Arizona School of Health Science. Ha-Yoon Jae works out of our Elmira and Kitchener locations.

Kim Nguyen

B.Sc. Ed, H.I.S. - Hearing Instrument Specialist

Kim Nguyen completed his B.Sc. Ed in the city of Can Tho, Vietnam. He taught mathematics at the Secondary School level before moving to Canada. Kim received his Hearing Instrument Specialist Diploma from Conestoga College in 2013. He joined the Ear and Hearing Clinic team in 2014 and currently works for our Retirement and Long-Term Care Division.

Brandy Cole

H.I.S. - Hearing Instrument Specialist

Brandy Cole received her Hearing Instrument Specialist Diploma from Conestoga College in 2018. Brandy joined The Ear and Hearing team right after graduation in 2018 and spent a year mentoring under Juliana Schlegel, B.A.(Hons), M.Cl.Sc., Doctor of Audiology and Rachel Dingle, Ph.D., M.Cl.Sc., Audiologist. Brandy services associated retirement and nursing homes throughout Southern Ontario. She believes in providing professional, trustworthy and honest service to reach the best possible solutions for individual care.

Karen Fritsch

H.I.S. - Hearing Instrument Specialist

Karen Fritsch earned her Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Waterloo in 2000. She worked in her scientific field for many years until her interest focused on hearing healthcare. She received her Hearing Instrument Specialist Post-Graduate Certificate from Conestoga College in 2011. Karen was recognized with awards in 2010 and 2011 for a student who displays a pursuit and drive for knowledge, a commitment of lifelong learning and a sense of community. She graduated on the President’s Honour List and received the award for High Distinction.

Karen joined the Ear and Hearing Clinic team in 2016. She believes in providing professional, trustworthy and honest service to reach the best possible solutions for individual care.

Jason Hooper

H.I.S. - Hearing Instrument Specialist

Jason studied broadcasting in South Africa, before making the move to Canada.

An avid audiophile who wanted to help others, Jason transitioned from the Television industry into hearing healthcare by completing his Hearing Instrument Specialist diploma at George Brown College.

Jason joined the Ear & Hearing team right after graduating in 2023.
